About
Get rid of that tired and discouraging look caused by excessive build-up of dead skin cells that makes the skin thick and dull and may cause clogged pores. Our Technicians can remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin by mechanical means with our special Glycolic Peel treatment.
This acid peel is one of the alpha-hydroxyacids (AHAs), a group of naturally occurring substances often referred to as ‘fruit acids’ because they are found naturally in various fruits and other foods. In its natural state, glycolic acid is found in sugar cane juice.
A glycolic acid peel treatment is a specific technique for skin renewal. During this process, a high concentration of glycolic acid is applied to the skin for a short period of time and then chemically neutralized to end the treatment. This procedure rapidly removes the damaged layer of surface skin cells revealing fresh skin, whilst stimulating cell rebuilding and restructuring of deeper skin layers. This procedure can help the skin appear brighter, cleaner, and healthier and is a great preparation treatment for the Laser or Mesotherapy treatments.
This procedure is good for:
- Surface skin imperfections
- Sun-damaged skin
- Skin with mild acne
- Rough skin with a sallow complexion
How does it work
Glycolic acid acts by reacting with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold dead skin cells together. This allows the outer layer of the skin to “dissolve”, revealing smoother, brighter-looking underlying skin. Fine, superficial imperfections and blemishes are improved while gently encouraging the skin’s natural ability to remodel itself. Glycolic acid is also known to improve the appearance of fine wrinkles, acne and brown discolorations.

What is Glycolic Peel?

Does it hurt?
No. The word ‘acid’ often worries people unnecessarily. During the peel you will experience mild prickly, tingling sensation whilst the glycolic acid is applied to your skin. FMH’s Glycolic Peel is very much like a normal facial, only with far better, visible results.
How does it help?
- Assists in resolving photo-damaged skin (sun damage)
- Treats acne and acne scarring.
- Helps in the prevention of pre-mature ageing of the skin.
- Reduces hyper pigmentation.
- Significantly decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stimulates the skins collagen and the skins elastin.
- Accelerates the results that can be achieved with the use of the home care glycolic skin care products for home use.
What results can I expect to see from Glycolic Peel?
Skin will feel smoother and appear more radiant. It will feel hydrated, soft and blemish-free. With less ‘debris’ lying on the surface of your skin in the form of dead skin cells, it means that products used at home will sink in better and get to work quicker. So many people spend a considerable amount of money on skincare which gets ‘used up’ by the dead skin cells on the surface of our skin which give skin it’s dull, lack-luster appearance.
Are there any side effects and is there any downtime?
You will experience a mild prickling sensation during treatments. Treatment may make the skin slightly red for a short time, this is often more obvious in those with fair skin. Most people who have this treatment to their skin find they have no side-effects afterwards. After 2-3 days you may notice some skin flaking (not very visible to the eyes) as the treatment makes the dead cells slough off. This is normal and is not obvious. Glycolic acid helps reduce the “build up” at the lower levels of the skin. There is no recovery time: immediately after the treatment you can apply make-up and continue with your day.
